Processes are important to work and life. Creating one gives you a lot of control and freedom. If your life and/or work are spinning out of control, it is all the more reason to create processes to get them back in order. Here are 5 reasons you need a process.

To create stability.
We are creatures of habit. Habits create stability. Look no further than your morning work routine or when you drop off and pick up your children. These are all routines. Creating processes stabilize your work and life by becoming habits that you can rely on day in and day out.
A process reduces your labor.
You have enough on your mind and your plate. A process is set it and forget it. Besides you have more than enough to worry about.
It lets people know what to expect.
Think of McDonalds, Burger King and the airport. Each three places have a process so you know that to expect. Creating a process gives people an expectation of what they will get from you.
Serves as the baseline for improvement.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines a baseline as the minimum or starting point used for comparisons. That’s what a process is. Your process serves as the starting place to build out whatever you’re planning. You can also use processes to improvement your work and/or life. Say for instance, you and your coworker are doing the same job but he gets promoted. Well, you can change your process to resemble his and get the same result.
Ease of audit.
Processes aren’t stagnant. You can change them whenever you see fit. You can change what you want to improve and make better. Remember, you are in full control of your processes.
Creating processes will make your work and life easier. All the more reason to create them.
