I passed my Azure AI Fundamentals on November 2, 2020. Here are my 5 lessons learned from my passing my Azure AI Fundamentals exam to help you if you are pursuing it too.
This Exam Is Completely Different From Azure Fundamentals and Azure Data Fundamentals.
Yes, this is an Azure certification but this AI-900 is about artificial intelligence. If you have the Azure Fundamentals certification, which I have, don’t expect any transferable knowledge. AZ-900 is about the major Azure services. AI-900 is about Azure’s artificial intelligence and machine learning services.
There are 5 Topics And Three Core Services
This exam covers 5 topics:
- Machine Learning
- Anomaly Detection
- Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Conversational AI
Also focus on these three services:
- Azure Machine Learning
- Cognitive Services
- Bot Service
Having a Statistics/Data Analytics/Data Science Background Will Help You A Lot
This exam is not for newcomers. If you don’t have a statistics/data analytics/data science background, you must get it before taking this AI-900. Having scored 900/1000 on mine, I know that my statistics and data analytics background help me a whole lot. I already know about regression and anomaly detection (outlier) before this exam.
Microsoft Learn AI-900 Learning Path Provides a Good Foundation
The Microsoft Learn learning path will provide you a sound foundation. You will get your hands dirty with the labs. Furthermore, this is a great way of saving money. I have used this along with some other resources to pass. I am all about saving money while advancing your career.
Microsoft has two programs to help you save money. StartDevChange is holding two coding challenges for free exam vouchers. This challenge is going on from now until November 14, 2020. The Microsoft COVID-19 discounted exam voucher initiative. From now until December 31, 2020, if your job was adversely affected by the pandemic, you could buy a $15 exam voucher. You must use it from now until March 31, 2021. AI-900 is a qualified exam.
There’s A Demand for AI-900 for AI/ML Jobs
Even though AI technology may be foreign to you and there aren’t as many AI-900 exam prep resources as Azure Fundamentals and Azure Data Fundamentals exams, there is a demand for this certification. My interviewing for a position and the interviewer mentioning AI along with my cloud certifications, proves that there is market demand for certified AI professionals.
If you are interested in pursuing your AI-900 you are not alone. In fact, view yourself as a trailblazer. It is better to get your AI certification now versus when it becomes mainstream. Last year in 2019, I told my training specialists that I wanted to multi-cloud (learning more than one cloud computing language). Now in 2020, multi-cloud is all of the rage. However, because I have positioned myself a year ago, now I have amassed the lab and computing experience to be a high-profile candidate.
Here are my 5 lessons learned from my passing my Azure AI Fundamentals certification. Here’s hoping that my lessons learned help you in your AI-900 pursuit.
